Obtaining a Completion Letter for Employment
When it comes to obtaining a completion letter for employment purposes, it's essential to understand the process involved in finalising your academic journey.
Understanding the process:
-
Academic Record Management: All student marks are diligently recorded by your School or Faculty's Academic Services team. These marks are then taken through exam boards for confirmation.
-
Finalisation of Marks: The final marks and recommendations are forwarded to the university's Awards & Progression board for the final ratification of your award. For postgraduate students, this final board typically convenes in November for September starters and over the summer for Spring starters.
-
Official Completion Status: Until your final marks have undergone the board's confirmation process, you are not officially completed. It's crucial to note that currently registered students can access their own course letters through the Nest website's Self-Service links. Remember, all your course fees must be paid in full for you to be awarded and completed.
International Students:
If you are an international student on a visa sponsored by the university, it's important to ensure that your Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and term dates letter reflect the start and end dates of your course. If you have changed programme and have a new end date, this will be reflected in the student status letter. These documents may be required by your employer for verification purposes.
Please note: As your visa sponsor, the university is not allowed to comment on your availability for employment; we can only confirm the official term dates or start and end dates of your course.
By proactively engaging with the appropriate university departments and understanding the process involved, you can ensure a smooth transition into the workforce with the necessary documentation in hand.
